At the time of moving to Sedgeford, Walter and Alice had 5 children: Walter Ernest, (known as Ernest) (born 1871), Gilbert Mortimore (1872), Reginald Seager (Reggie) (1874) Donald Rolfe (1875) and John Foster (1878) who had all been born at the family's previous address at Palace Gardens Terrace, Kensington in London. A daughter, Ella (born 1877) had died in infancy,
After the move, a 5 further children were added to the family: Gerald Owen (1880) Gertrude Maude (Gertie) (1882), Nona Isabel (1884), Francis Whittaker (Frank) (1885) and Helen Violet (1887).
Alice took many portraits of her family, both singly and in groups. The style of portrait seems to have become less formal over time. The pictures are arranged here chronologically, judging by the childrens' perceived ages
Gilbert
Originally labelled as "Gerald" I think this must be an early picture of Gilbert in front of Sedgeford Hall. The house itself looks the same as the later…
