The next walk is being organised by Roger and will take place on Friday 1 June. It will start outside the Village Car Park in Station Road, Wellow. We’ll meet at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
Walk organisers : Roger Sirett
Roger has provided the following information about the walk:
- The journey from Timsbury to Wellow is about 20 minutes.
- There is parking at the Village Car Park. To get to the car park go along the road leading from The Fox and Badger Pub towards Peasdown St. John. It’s about 250-300 yards along the road, signposted to the left. If coming from Peasedown St. John it is on your right just past the village shop and before you get to The Fox and Badger. The grid reference is 738583.
- The walk is 5.6 miles long and about 3 hours walking.
- The walk is split between OS Explorer 142 Shepton Mallet & Mendip Hills East and also Explorer 155 Bristol & Bath.
- The Wellow Horse Centre is expecting us for coffee at about 10 am. Nice little spot with loos!
- The initial stages are easy walking, pretty much all the way to Midford and along the Cam Brook valley. Then there is a genuine uppity bit to Twinhoe. When Roger tested the walk this was wet as the path is used as a water run-off and was like walking uphill in a shallow stream. There is a gentle uppity bit after Twinhoe and then it is all downhill to Wellow Church and the pub.
- There are 0 stiles
- The walk is on cycle track, footpaths, lanes and tracks.
- There will be good views at different locations.
