    He was a member of the Gaols Committee of the House of Commons.
    It is likely that he was one of the sitters in the picture of that committee painted by Hogarth in 1729.

    He was an associate of Gen James Oglethorpe, the Founder of Georgia and one of the Georgia Trustees.
