    Represented Gloucester for some years.


    After his father and his brother's death in 1751 settled the entail of the Gloucester estate on Mr Townsend's male heirs his nephew in law.

    Portrait described in Inventory possibly given to Winchester College by Tim Heywood as "Insurance policy for sons acceptance."


    Was painted by Reynolds. Always looked sleepy which enhanced his jokes as though they came from nowhere.

    Instructed that all his letters be destroyed
