    When the Czar Peter the great came over to England he visited the Arsenal dock yard where he came across young Lewis, then a midshipman and taking a fancy to him he persuaded him to return with him (the Czar) to Russia where Lewis entered the

    Russian Navy and in time was appointed High Admiral. The Emperor decorated him with the Order of St Catherine (Red ribbon) as seen in his portrait. One of his sons was a page to Empress Catherine.
